Comment by David on recent e-reflections
In response to the last two mailings from The Contemplative Way I would like to share with the reader's an extract from one of the books that I read daily called "God calling." It was written by two listeners. ...more

Maria's response to Steve's comment
Turning off the car radio is a great place to start. Even the simplest, intentional movement toward a more contemplative way of being will have such positive effects on your journey of transformation. ...more

Comment by Steve on recent e-reflection
Recently, I have been giving thought if it was possible to escape from the damage and captivity of a life of "noise", advertising, propaganda, spin, selective education, etc. I wondered is it possible for me to think creatively free of influence? ...more

Isn't our nature to "expect"? Wasn't that a part of our design? I couldn't agree more that we just need to "be". Yet, until I am dead, I wonder if I will ever be in total unexpectancy.

It seems that every time I do centering prayer I can’t stop my mind from thinking. Am I supposed to be able to do that?
The mind thinks and it is impossible for you to stop it. In centering prayer we are not trying to push thoughts out of our mind or stop the thoughts before entering. ...more

What does being an active contemplative mean?
To me it means living moment by moment, day by day with my heart's intention on opening to the Presence of God in all things. This opening of my heart, mind and soul allows me to be more conscious. ...more
